Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' the first artist of female gender on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the web, including her own release single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's reference. Later in the year, her music was played all over Dreamville. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. On November 9 the singer released two new singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November, two brand new singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It was then released as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
